Cedric Kaze Reacts as Glody Lilepo Red Card Rules Him Out of Kaizer Chiefs Finale

Cedric Kaze Reacts as Glody Lilepo Red Card Rules Him Out of Kaizer Chiefs Finale

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has admitted Glody Lilepo’s red card against AmaZulu was an unfortunate moment after the winger scored the winning goal in a 1-0 Betway Premiership victory.

Lilepo was the match-winner for Amakhosi at Moses Mabhida Stadium. His second-half strike gave Chiefs all three points in Durban and helped them strengthen their position in third place.

But his afternoon ended in disappointment.

The DR Congo winger was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for removing his shirt during his goal celebration. He had already been booked earlier in the match.

That red card means Lilepo will miss Kaizer Chiefs’ final league match of the season against Chippa United at FNB Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Kaze said Chiefs must learn from the incident.

“We need to be careful because he was already booked and he takes his shirt off as he celebrates,” Kaze told SuperSport.

“Which means that we’re going to miss him in the last game. It’s an unfortunate situation.

“Sometimes you also understand the player, the passion and relief for scoring but it’s good that we have three points.

“But in future we need to be careful about things like that.”

Lilepo Scores Winner Before Costly Dismissal

Lilepo’s goal came in the second half after a tight contest against AmaZulu. Chiefs had struggled to create clear chances before the break, but they improved after halftime and found the breakthrough.

The winger’s finish proved decisive, but his celebration changed the mood around his performance.

After removing his shirt, the referee showed him a second yellow card. Chiefs were then forced to finish the match with 10 men.

Kaze said the team managed the situation well and protected their lead until the final whistle.

Chiefs Prepare for Chippa Without Lilepo

The result gave Kaizer Chiefs another important win as they head into their final match of the campaign.

Amakhosi will now face Chippa United without Lilepo, who has become an important attacking option for the club.

For Kaze, the message was clear. Chiefs were happy with the three points, but the red card was avoidable.

Lilepo’s goal helped the team win the match. His red card, however, has left Chiefs without him for their season finale.
